This idea is one that is a relatively high cost startup. Starting a campground takes the proper location, property and know-how.
Campgrounds are the largest family vacation destinations in the travel industry. Many families use camping for bonding, vacations, relaxation, socialisation and partying. Billions of dollars are spend every year at campgrounds and on camping-related products (An expansion to the idea is offering firewood and simple products for sale at the camp ground).
There are various types of campground operations that can be started to generate income and money: a seasonal campground, tenting camping, RV campground and industry campgrounds (golf or fishing campgrounds).
The greater number of services and products that are offered to the campers at campgrounds, the more traffic the campground will make and the more revenue that will be generated. Any feature that many RV's and tenters do not have added to a campground will attract customers: Swimming Pools, an on site general store, firewood sales, washroom and showers, gaming rooms, laundry all help to generate money and attract customer.
Word of mouth is a powerful tools for the campground business. Returning customers and referrals are key to the long term success of any campground. Brochures are another way to foster interest in a campground. Finally market the campground by being listed in travel guides and local newspapers.
